I don't care about a B+ or an A12 Nov

I’m pretty much fed up with school. I’m going along my own theories and from now on I’m not going to care what teacher gives me which grade.

No matter how hard I work, I’m always going to get a B+ in vis com. Oh and completely disregard the fact that I’m probably the only person getting a B+, while everyone else is breezing by with an A and they don’t even know how to use photoshop, aswell as place type on a page properly. I’m kind of insulted actually, but it’s okay. Maybe I should feel special I’m the only one with a flimsy B.

Even the teacher said it.
It doesn’t matter how hard you work.

Then what matters?!

I’ve given up my hopes for a 4.0 this semester, the dream was pretty close considering I’m doing very well in my other classes. I’m sick of asking why I got a 4/6 on CONCEPT/IDEA and CREATIVITY and seeing no changes when I put forth extra work into everything. How on EARTH could I be marked down for lack of creativity??????? Based on whose perception of creativity? DAMNIT!!!! I COULD THINK OF A STORY OF A UNICORN UNDERWATER RIGHT NOW AND PULL SOME HARRY POTTER CRAP LAND A MILLION DOLLAR BOOK DEAL AND BUY THE SCHOOL THEN BULLDOZE IT AND REPLACE IT WITH A GIANT WATERSLIDE.

HOW IS THAT FOR CREATIVITY???

Trust me when I say that I don’t know how half the people got into this school. Seriously. I guess they just need the monies~

Anyway I figure employers don’t really care whether you get a B+ or an A+ in a class, as long as your work is good and you can give them what they want, you’re hired :)

I’ll be working on a layout once I get photoshop installed. AND IM SORRY ABOUT THE BLEND CHALLENGE. I promise I will post results tonight (after new episode of the office!!).
BEWARE SCHOOL.

  1. I think it should matter how hard you work. In my graphics class we have to fill out these time sheets and we have to write down everything we do and if the teacher thinks that everything we did was a good use of class time we get a 100% for participation. If he doesn’t then he grades accordingly. So if we deserve an A and he sees that we did enough work to earn one then thats what we get.

  2. i totally understand. when i took my typography class it was something like that. thinking back i think the professor thought i was an ass (btw i am a good student). anyway….
i always put 100% into my work. our final grade was based on 2 projects so i chose the 2 he seemed to like best & he gave me a b on the class. i really thought i was getting an a. later on i learned that a girl who didnt know half of what i knew also got a B. i felt REALLY bad cause i knew i was in the top 5 of the class. & THEEEN i knew that this guy who like knew EVERYTHING & sucked up to him was the only person w an A. I wanted to go back & whack him in the head. but he left the university. it was a serious wtf? moment. at least i learned a lot. i still think back & get mad. but its just stuff we have to go through….

  3. The good thing about creative stuff like graphic design is that grades really do NOT matter when you graduate! I’m sure most companies will only consider your portfolio and the fact that you have a degree. Getting a A really only matter if you want to be a doctor or lawyer or something. So yeah, don’t stress! :)
