Pray for Abdullah Khader

I was on facebook and was invited to a group called “Pray for Abdallah”. After I read the information in the group and looked at the pictures, it really hit me hard. This is a truly, truly devastating story. And it all started with a man named Stewart Richardson, who was 3 times over the legal alcohol limit when he rear ended Loubna Khader’s car at a stoplight last year. Her son, Abdallah Khader, who was in his car seat at the time was injured by the impact and doctors said 80% of his brain is now damaged. Abdallah is now alive on life support, and he cannot be taken off it because of religious reasons (the Khaders are muslim as well). If he was to survive doctors said he will not be able to speak, see, eat….he will not be living a normal life.

Amanda Maggart witnessed the crash. She told CBS 11 News she spoke to Richardson moments after impact. “He was coherent and showed no remorse whatsoever,” she claims. “He was trying to start the truck. That’s all he was concerned about.”

Maggart said Richardson didn’t appear upset when he learned about Abdallah’s injuries. “He said, ‘That sucks.’ Those were his words.”

So after all that he has caused to this poor family the only thing he had to say was “that sucks.” It would be surprising to assume that he actually has a broader vocabulary anyway.

Richardson has had prior convictions and DUI’s, but the judge was only going to give him 20 years in prison due to some kind of stupid law in Iowa. What the hell is up with the legal system? So let me get this straight, a guy like this can put a child in critical condition and only get 20 years?

That is sickening. What need for these people do we have? We don’t NEED people like this infesting our society and taking more innocent lives. People like this are useless. You take a life? You don’t deserve to live.

I am TIRED of hearing stories like this…of poor innocent people who are hit by drunk drivers. It’s not fair to anyone. Not for a drink. It’s not worth it. It’s just sad to think that you could be doing everything right then your life could end because of an intoxicated idiot on the road. Look at the damaged cause just to her car:

This alone should secure him away from society for good. But apparently it’s not good enough for the legal system. This is damage to the car by someone just REAR ENDING THEM. How fast was this man going to have had to damage the car that severely?

Beside him is his Mother. What a beautiful and strong person she is to be dealing with all of this. I hope the best for her, and her family.
I hope the Khader family gets justice for their son. This is a truly saddening story of a beautiful boy who will never get to live a normal life because a stupid, pathetic man who has nothing better to do than drink his life away. If you would like to join the facebook group you can join here.

And please, if you do happen to drink (which I am not an advocate at all for) please do not drink and drive. You hurt more than yourself.

  1. This is such a horrible story and the worst part is that this isn’t even unusual, it happens all the time. I can’t believe all he could say was “that sucks”. What kind of human being is he!?

I drink, but everyone who drinks should know what is an acceptable amount, and obviously to never ever drink and then drive.

The sad thing is, nothing probably will get done about this particular case. The only hope is for legislation to change for the future victims. In any case I wouldn’t be able to imagine being a mother in that circunstance, especially seeing as they have to keep the life support on for religious reasons. Must be terrible.

  2. This is horrible. THIS is the reason why people should not drink alcohol. Shit like this happens.

  5. Oh my gosh… That’s just awful, and just another reason that I’m against drinking and driving.
People should really be more careful, and think about the lives they could ruin when they do things like that.
Or just not drink at all.

  6. This is really awful. The child must have had trust in him, he didn’t know any better and was basically murdered due to his idiotic father.

And who let him go with his father? There was
SURELY evidence that this man was not fit to take care of a child in the past.

Unfortunately some people are ignorant to such advances in medicine, but there is hope for cases such as this.

  7. No no…I think you mixed the story up. The father had nothing to do with the crash, some drunk man (Stewart) rear ended their car.

But yes I hope justice prevails at this point…

  8. Ah, sorry. I felt i was missing something…
What i interpreted sounds like quite a few stories that are floating around.

These people just do not care, it’s mind boggling.

  9. hi, You miss understood the story. His father was not the drunk person. WE were stopped at a red light , then we were hit by a drunk driver, including the father too. I am the mother of this child, and i happen to browse the internet and i came across this site and read your comment. I dont know why you thought that his father was the drunk person. he wasnt infact his father was badly hurt , we were all hit, me , myhusband and my 2 year old son and also my step son. he broke his arm in 3 different places. Check Pray for abdallah on face book and the news reports are there. but no we all were hit by a drunk driver and that monster is not the babis father. loubna Elharazin

  10. This is such a sad story, that man deserves life behind bars for his idiotic action. A situation similar to this happened in my family and the victim (I don’t wanna say how they were related) didn’t survive, and the girl that hit them never even went to jail. :( It’s so sad that people can critically injur/murder someone by being under the influence and barely be punished, let alone feel any remorse…
I pray for the best for the Khader family. :( <3

  11. All he said was “that sucks…”, I think he deserves more than just prison…way more. ugh. It’s sickening.

Have you heard of this girl? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-10p1ylZhJM It happened a while ago but it’s so sad, she’ll have to live like that for the rest of her life.

  12. I did hear about that, and it is absolutely horrible…god, what can happen to these poor innocent people….my heart goes out to all victims like this.

  13. This made me so angry, I can’t even imagine how the parents feel! Driving drunk is blatant STUPIDITY and CARELESSNESS (I actually have better words, but I’m not using them for the sake of you all). I agree, we don’t need people like that in our society.

I’ve seen Jacqi’s story on Oprah. Drunk driving causes so many problems- not to even mention regular excessive drinking, which can result in domestic violence. I know it could never happen, but imagine life without drugs and alcohol. That would be nice.

Andd this is why we need capital punishment. No, honestly, I don’t think this dude should get it. But I feel after we get capital punishment eliminated, people will want to eliminate life sentences, etc..

  14. its unfortunate because 85% of college students do this. Around that same percentage is the CAUSE of most accidents. Its sad that there are people who opt for a LOWER drinking age – “if I am allowed to serve for my country at age 18 I should be allowed to have a drink” – completely different.

Its too bad alchohol will never be banned because it stimulates our economy as well as the tobacco industry. The reason our economy is suffering is because people are actually are withdrawing their alchohol and tobacco consumption due to trying to just slip by due to the high prices of everything else.

While one might think that this may be a good thing, it could actually increase homelessness because of addiction to put it to the extreme.

I’d like to see alchohol banned because it might improve the general IQ of the American people…

  15. I wish I’d read this sooner-it’s such a horrible story-devastating.
It really puts me off to see how the Alcohol and tobacco industry makes mor emoney than education, all over the world.Irresponsible people like this deserve punishment-especially if they can’t see the enormity of the harm they’ve caused.
I lost my father 3 years ago to a similar accident in India,so I sympathise and relate to this story.
We’re all praying for Abdullah and hoping that his family gets justice.

  19. :( what a sad story, I can only imagine how hard it is for the mother and the rest of the family.. and yeah, idk why people have to drink and I mean if you are going to drink don’t go driving cause that effects innocent people :S I live in Mexico and a guy we know was in an accident (he got hit by a drunk driver) and then the drunk guy sued him even though it wasn’t his fault and now he had to play all this money for something that was the other guy’s fault

  20. This is so terrible! But I have to say that the newest post you did, was a bit… too annoyed. I know that I don’t expect you to be constantly posting new tutorials and resources, hell, I’ve been coming on your site everyday for about two years now just to read about your life in your blogs :) Don’t think that we’re all mindless idiots just wanting more and more tutorials and such, because we’re not :)
And I know that what that man did is just.. disgusting. But there really is nothing you can do. I know it sounds harsh, because it sounds like it did affect you quite a bit, but things like this happen all the time, it’s life really isn’t it? :/

  21. Natalie, there is something she cad do, and she IS DOING it! She got your attention and many others, that is what is important, because if just one person is someone who has done the whole DUI thing, maybe now they will be thinking twice before they do it again. By bringing awareness to Abdullah it brings awareness to the whole DUI thing and you choose to make a difference or not. I choose to, so has she. Do you choose to make a difference??

I totally agree that 20 years is NOT enough.
Poor boy :( I’m going to pray for Abdallah!

  23. This is absolutely horrible. Last year, in late May, our family got a call that my Aunt was dead. She was killed in a drunk driving accident. Thankfully she was killed on impact and didn’t have to suffer too much. Things like these make me absolutely sick. And now that I have a story of my own to relate to, I find every drunk driving accident story more and more disgusting. God bless Abdallah and his entire family through such a hard time as this.
