Paisely Brushes

Abstract Techniques04 Mar

Music: Break Even – The Script

If you haven’t noticed I added a new brush set. I hand drew these in the boredom of class, they actually look MUCH better on paper but I wanted to offer them at a fairly large size. They look best when they’re scaled down just a bit.
New paisely brushes up!

And don’t worry I haven’t forgotten about that tutorial. I’m about to make a tutorial based on light/abstract effects such as these:

Comment on which graphic you would rather learn to re-create. Both are slightly the same in terms of the concept which is light/abstract, but the way I made them is completely different. So number 1 or number 2??

Abstract techniques are very popular and I’m going to teach you guys what everyone else refuses. Yup that’s right, everyone who has mastered the abstract technique wants to keep it to themselves. But I don’t think that’s right! Shareee with the world! :) Gotta figure this stuff out for yourself eh?

Anyway I am in class and in less than 50 minutes my spring break begins. Do you know what this means?!? I AM FREEEEE. For a week. But still. Best week ever! :)

I’ll be able to update and get that layout up soon. Yayyy :D
LOOOL btw I think I sprayed on Mens Perfume. WTF Dolce and Gabanna you wanna label your products??? IT DOESNT SAY MEN OR WOMEN but when I google searched it it said it was men….but then it said women. It’s called “The One” by Dolce and Gabbana.

Well you know what it smells so damn good so whether it’s womens or mens it doesn’t matter to me, as long as I don’t smell like a dead fish I’m good~

Previews look just as good27 Feb

I’ll be in Ann Arbor today, and then in Birmingham later at night. I’ll be all over Michigan! Woooo. If you want to follow me along my live adventures you can follow me on twitter and see what I’m up to! I usually update that first if anything comes up.

New layout WAS completed and will be up by tomorrow if everything goes well. I loveeee this new layout and can’t wait to put it up ;)
Here’s a preview because…well the preview looks just as good as the whole thing. Or at least in my mind it does.

I was curious about what type of tutorial to make next, and I figured since a lot of people want to learn about absract techniques it would be a good idea to make a tutorial based off my “lights go OUT” graphic.

( full view here )

Personally it’s very hard for me to learn new techniques because some people don’t explain how they do a certain thing. Of course it’s always up to you to go out and practice and figure it out for yourself (which in my opinion is a great learning style, rather difficult but you do learn the best) but when you have the option of following a tutorial, why not?

I want to do what other people didn’t do for me. :)
Anyway like I said new tutorial coming up and a new layout. I’m going to be working more closely on organizing the site and getting things to look cleaner. I always seem to miss the mark.

Oh and everyone. I wasn’t lying in the last blog.

Told ya I met spongebob!!

I'm still alive after deadlines19 Feb

NEW TUTORIAL TONIGHT OR TOMORROW! Check back later for it.
It’s amazing how after yesterday I am still functioning properly and not behind bars. I was about to lose my mind when I realized I had too much work to be done, and not enough time. Deadlines creep up on you like the latest stalker in the bushes, ya know. Would have done something very very…dangerous. Robbed a bank…sign, re design it and put it back. Gosh I am way too deep in my major right about now.

I’m awake this early (slept at 2, woke up at 9) because we had some issues with the advertisements this morning so I had to crack open my laptop and get to work on them and finish before 11. I was still in bed so I figured I’m not leaving because it’s warm, so here I am, in my bed. Still.

It’s so strange how you figure you can know some things about the industry design…but you have no freakin clue. Not even A BLUES CLUES NOT EVEN LIKE A SPECK OF DUST OR A GRAIN OF SALT EQUIVALENT TO A CLUE.

I was approved for the JobBook online, so now I can search internships and job opportunities and it’s quite amazing. I saw a PIXAR internship posted to my school for graphic designers, I think I almost died of happiness. I WAS GOING TO APPLY – but then it said I have to be a junior, which I’m not. That sucks. My happiness came to live LIFE (damnit see how early it is for me? I wrote LIVE instead of life…I CAME TO LIVE AGAIN…really?! ughhh) and then died again. Gives me more time to work on better pieces though, so maybe it’s not so bad?

One thing I did not know is that usually when you present a portfolio to someone it should be in PDF format, and in one single PDF with multiple pages. So basically the PDF will be like a portfolio book and every page has to be minimal design with laid out pictures of 3-4 works. The head of the department said that I should only show 3-4. DAMNNN that’s tricky. You gotta pick your work wisely. If it were me I would have handed them my USB and been like OK UH OPEN UP THAT FOLDER…ITS UNDER…NO NO THATS NOT IT GO BACK TO THE FOLDER CHICKENWINGS…I THINK ITS NAMED ILOVETHEJONASBROTHERS03 BUT IM NOT SURE…DAMNIT CAN YOU GO BACK TO MATT_DAMON_HOTT_4_LYFE FOR A SEC??

Anyway since the deadlines are over (for now) I will be working on my new PDF portfolio and a new tutorial I’ve already got in my mind. I know you guys want a new tutorial, and I want to write a new one! If anyone is actually interested in seeing my PDF portfolio when I’m done just let me know and maybe I’ll post it for you all to see. :)
