Very disappointed10 Mar

Okay so I can post a blog asking for a new layout and everyone comments, of course. But a blog about a poor little boy who was hit by a drunk driver doesn’t attract half that attention.
Disappointing.

No no it’s not even about the number of comments here, not at all. It’s about what seems to be important in peoples eyes that visit this site, and what’s not. I’m almost mad…

God I couldn’t even READ a sentence of the story of Abdallah Khader without tearing up and APPARENTLY everyone here just passes along like it’s another filler blog that Jessica writes. I’m starting to get the impression that If it’s not an update of some kind no one is interested.

I think I’m really getting sick of it. Yeah everyone just wants updates right? Why do I even blog anymore? I’ve become the girl who makes stuff for you guys to use.
I think I’ve lost hope.

Back in the day I used to enjoy blogging because everyone used to get involved and it was great to see communication between everyone. But no these days its all about what I can make and how fast it can be put up. Yeah no I don’t think I wanna go down that road.

I guess I was really touched by this story and I wanted to give it some attention and get some feedback. I know the mother (Loubna) wanted to publicize this story and I was trying to help. So if you are one of those people who do care about this, please spread the story of Abdallah wherever….

I appreciate deeply the 8 people who responded to the blog about Abdallah. Really. I am too close to tears even when writing this. My hearts breaks and I’ve never even met this kid. I’ve worked at a daycare so I feel strongly with children…

You know, I think once in a long while you read something that changes your life and this happens to be it for me right now. So excuse me if I’m not like myself for a while. I’m tired of this SHIFT.

This makes me think about me just sitting at 2 am all alone not sleeping making stuff and making tutorials for hours and hours that get like 2 comments that I feel like no one is even using. But then comes along that one person who tells me that they appreciate everything that I do and it makes those 4 hours of tutorial writing worth it.

I won’t be that girl who just makes stuff for everyone. This site won’t turn into that. If you want that you can go to those other resource sites where they charge you for the better resources and they update once a month on how to make a pen icon or something like that.

heh….If I closed this site down right now I don’t even think I would feel bad.

Anyway.
Goodnight. Yeah its 3 am and I’m off to bed. I’m sick as hell…

Thank you all very much08 Mar

Here is the newest layout. It’s pretty much finished (with the exception of the advertising & affie bits…still working that out!) and I’m very happy with how it’s turned out. It kinda reminds me of how I used to make layouts, and that makes me smile like a nerd who just got a new pokemon card. I hope you guys like it too. Of course if you don’t, well uh try squinting – see if you like it then??

One person that I would like to thank is Amy over at E-Starr Hosting. She’s the superwoman behind swimchick even being alive and she really is a one of a kind, genuine person. When I ran out of bandwidth last month I still had about 2 or so weeks til the end of February and instead of letting SC just rot in suspension she got it back for me right away. I’ve been with E-starr since the ‘birth of SC’ (if you will) and I’ve never had a single problem with them. They haven’t screwed me over or just deleted my things like I’ve seen with other websites. Yup there are lots of horror stories involving hosting and guess what, I have none of them ;) I wasn’t asked to write this about my host, I just felt like because of all their great service to me it’s really the least I could do. So yeah I’m not being slipped a fifty through paypal for this JUST SO YOU GUYS KNOW~ I’m a nice person and I like to show my appreciation to those who help me out on a daily basis.

I’m so thankful to have a reliable, non psycho hosting service with me on my website journey. They’re real people and they know what they’re doing. If you ever wanna join the e-starr family WE CAN BE SISTERS/BROTHERS. :)

I’d also like to thank Sumaiya for helping me thus far. As both a friend and a teacher. I can’t even put into words how much I’ve learned from this chicka….It’s amazing what one person can teach you, coding and non-coding. Sumaiya has helped swimchick grow and has helped me realize what needs to be changed in order to make swimchick better. She’s a great person and very dear to me – and even though she knows all the answers to the questions I’m going to ask, it’s okay because I word them funny and so she can’t answer them properly hehehehee.

Anddddd I wanna thank….uh…well, everyone. I seriously have the best visitors IN THE WORLD. Lady Gaga calls her fans MONSTERS. What the hell is that?? I will never call you guys monsters. That’s messed up. What if a real monster was one of her fans? He’d be pissed.

You guys are my homies. My AMIGOS CHICKOS. Uhhh..my…irfeeah!! (friend in arabic) LOOOL wow fail @ writing arabic in english. Can’t happen.

Oh and if you’re still reading this, that’s great because I’m going to tell you the big news of mine. I’ll be living in Switzerland for three months in May. Yup, swissylandddd!!!
