I’m going to be holding a contest where you guys can design the next swimchick Favicon!
If you don’t know what a favicon is, it’s that little designed icon in your browser next to the website name. Mine is that red SC lookin thing. It’s not all that fancy but I suppose I’m no good with anything under 500000 pixels. It’s true.
This is why I need your help.
The rules are pretty simple, and the prize is seeing YOUR design as the official favicon used for the site! In addition, one free month of advertising.
Please read the rules before beginning.
Rules
1. Favicon size MUST be 16×16 pixels
2. Must have the letters “SC” or “SWIMCHICK” in it
3. You may only enter once
4. Must be your original work
5. Anything you use must have appropriate permission
6. I don’t even know if this is humanely possible but no vulgarity or nudity, etc.. Like I said, I don’t even know how you would do it with 16 pixels LOL but hey in 2010 I wouldn’t even question it – let’s keep this PG.
And if you can follow those rules, you are good to go! Once you’ve created your design please post the URL in the comments and that’s it! You’ve been entered.
The deadline for this contest is August 29th so this gives you all plenty of time, hopefully.

I’m pretty ecstatic with how the site is looking so far. It was looking somewhat messy so it had to be cleaned up. Do you like it? lemme know. But yeah, the coding is lookin’ pretty fly so far, all that is left is the most important part of all: design.
Ehhhhhhhhh. Now let me tell you how I don’t like designing around something. I’m a graphic designer and I can’t even web design properly. I’m pretty much a failure, but at least I make things look pretty. Trust me, I’m gonna get over this stage in my life real soon. I’ve been told this:
“Jessica, your work must have a concept and idea behind it – not just look pretty.”
What do they know? They’re all over 30. They probably all formed a club and knit together while talking about how I don’t know how to spell concept. My life is just beginning and people like me like seeing pretty, sparkly and flashy things. Who cares if the message is SAVE THE ANIMALS!! if it looks like barney threw up on a granny no one is gonna wanna look at it. It’s gotta look nice. Of course I’m almost out of this stage so I probably won’t be saying this for long. Though it’s quite fun while it lasts, mwuahahaha.
Coding has been growing on me these past few days. I feel like a sorcerer now – as if I’m about to pull out some harry potter magic tricks and turn something into a big fluffy dog. I didn’t even know how to use position relative a few days ago, and now I’ve mastered the damn thing. It only took me like what? 6 years? Oh well at least now I know. It’s like OH your husband has been cheating on you with a stripper and they have a family in canada you don’t know about – their oldest kid is 15 yrs old. Well girl sucks to be you but AT LEAST NOW YOU KNOW.
Ultimately I have Sumaiya to thank for that. Without her I might as well still be using iframes. As some of you may know she helps me with coding and is the brains of the site, and I’ve been on a mission to learn everything she knows about this stuff. I figure I can’t not know coding forever. But now I do. I’m smiling really weird right now. Coding makes me happy when it listens to me.
I’m slowly working on a layout to put up with this new setup. Gonna take my time on it til I really, really like it.

I cannot BELIEVE what I just found out!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
You won’t either.
I wake up this morning and am checking some news when I overhear my mom telling what seems to be a dream about her hearing the car take off at 4 AM and thinking someone stole it, then checking my brothers room to see he wasn’t there and someones house burning down. I’m like o man here goes the arab instincts where they try to decipher their very weird/complicated dream into something like “YOURE GONNA HAVE A BABY”.
At first I’m like ehhh whatever I don’t think anything of dreams, that one sounds ludicrous to me anyway. I go downstairs and ask my brother for his phone when Lisa comes up to me and says, “OMG DID YOU HEAR WHAT HAPPENED LAST NIGHT?“ And at first I’m like UHHH WASNT THAT A DREAM
She told me IT WAS REAL.
Apparently at 4 AM my mom woke up from a sound of a car zooming past, a car which was ours, and it took off while my mom was screaming out HEY HEY!! Because somehow my mom screaming that out is gonna make the person jacking the car go O CRAP NOOO IM CAUGHT reverses back into driveway.
THEN in total panic mode my mom went to check to see where my brother is as my sister Lisa was screaming in the background “CALL THE COpS!! CALL THE COPS!!”
They couldn’t find my brother Ali. Which to me is great because he’s just a huge pile of CRAP and I’d rather him be lost in a space nebula than be sound sleeping in his nasty room.
So then they called Ali constantly until he answered and said that his friends house was ‘on fire’ and he had to go help. Then he said the guy was sleeping over.
And my mom let it slide.
I thought the whole thing was a DREAM from how ridiculous it sounded, how could this be true
As Lisa finished the story I looked at Hassan, he was smiling.
Instant lie.
“TELL ME WHAT HAPPENED RIGHT NOW. IT’S A HUGE LIE ISN’T IT!!“ Then he cracked. Hassan told us that they went to McDonalds at 4 am and they made the whole story up and Mom believed it. Ali told the lies, of course.
My mom was seriously so shaken up from it and I’m DISGUSTED my brother would stoop SO LOW as to make up this kind of lie JUST FOR EFFING MCDONALDS AT 4 AM!!!!!!!!!! HOW FAT CAN YOU BE THAT YOU NEED MCDONALDS AT THAT TIME!! HOW FAT CAN YOU BE IF YOU NEED MCDONALDS AT ALL!!!!!!!!!!
They need to be exposed…especially that boy Ali. He is going down.

This is what I’ve come up with. Now please don’t attack me for the messiness of the layout so far (all that sidebar crap, ehhh working on it!), I was coding for almost 5 hours (this is the rate I work at, ha haha) and I just needed a break. I am seriously the grannies of grandmas of…the knitting club when it comes to coding.
But I try, and that’s the most important thing. When you don’t try you never know. And I at least want to know.
Anyway, it’s 1:11 AM and the wish I just made was to go to bed. So I will be making my own wish come true by going to sleep. See you all in the morning! Laterrr.
