Andy Warhol Pop Art Effect
In this tutorial, I will show you how to create the popular Andy Warhol pop art effect to your pictures. To start, please download this PSD, for I will be using it throughout the tutorial. Credit goes to the wonderful Stephanie for the PSD.
First we will begin to add the effects. Go to Image > Adjustments > Threshold.

For this picture we will set the threshold to 99. Click okay.

Now we want to smoothen up the edges. When you use halftone pattern, it creates the effect around your foregroun and background. So the two colors you choose will create your pop art effect. The foreground color I chose was #0090a1 and my background color #def200. If you’re using the same colors as me, your two color palettes should look like this:

After you’ve sorted out your colors go to Filter > Sketch > Halftone Pattern.

Match your settings to mine:

Now go back to your background (if you downloaded the PSD, I made the background invisible so check on the layer visibility to make it appear) and fill it with any bright color. I’ll be using the color #ff119d. Your image should now look like this:

Now if you want to create new colors, you can either repeat all these steps and use different foreground/background colors. OR you create new raster layers and fill them with different colors while putting them on different layer settings such as screen, overlay, difference or even exlusion. For an easier way, go to Layer > New Adjustment Layer > Hue and Saturation and play with the Hue/Saturation slider.
After many layer settings, cropping and resizing photos, this is what I came up with:

Thank you so much. We are making pop art in school. Andy Worhol is genius. THANK YOU SOOOO MUCH xx
